Things You Can do Right Now to Help Abortion & Reproductive Rights

With the inauguration just one week away, you may be wondering how you can actively help reproductive justice & abortion rights despite a hostile and intolerant administration coming into power. The fight for reproductive rights is more important than ever, and there are many ways that you can get involved, even from your home!! If you're looking for a way to put your drive for justice into action, here are some ways you can participate in the fight:

• Donate to an abortion fund. Abortion funds provide direct financial and practical support like transportation, lodging and language translation for those in need of abortion care.
• Attend a protest. On January 18th, the People's March is happening in cities around the country to make our voices heard.
• Support independent abortion clinics with a donation to Keep Our Clinics
• Talk about reproductive rights with your friends, family, and community. Raising awareness is key for collective action.
• Find your local Reproductive Justice organizations, and get involved! Volunteer your time, offer help organizing, follow and share them on social media. Get involved in your community in any way you can.
• Learn about the abortion laws in your state. Learn the ins and outs of the legislation in place and any new or potential upcoming legislation. Stay on top of the news to know if anything changes. The Center for Reproductive Rights is a great place to start.
• Find out where your lawmakers stand on abortion. Contact them to urge them to support federal abortion protections. The Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) would protect the right to access abortion in every state, despite the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe. The Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act of 2022 (H.R. 8297) would protect the right to travel to access abortion care across state lines. Both of these federal bills were recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and would need to overcome the Senate filibuster to be enacted.
• Follow Reproductive Justice organizations on social media and share them with your community. @reprorights, @feminist, and @abortionfunds are a great place to start  
• Vote in every election. Whether it's a local or federal election cycle, get involved in the political process wherever you can. Change starts at the local level, and you can start by making an impact on your community to make a greater difference on a larger scale. Encourage your friends and family to do the same!
