How to Remove a Menstrual Disc
Sooo your menstrual disc is in, it's captured your period all day long, and now it's time to take it out. What do you do now?!
The most important step in removing your menstrual disc is to relax your muscles. Take a deep breath.
The Viv Disc has a pull tab that makes removal simple. There's really only one step: pull the tab! But let's get a little more in-depth.
1. Wash your hands
Always insert or remove any period product with clean hands. This ensures you aren't passing any harmful bacteria into your body.
2. Remove your disc in the shower
Taking out your disc might be messy (at least at first), and that's totally normal! If you want to minimize mess, hop in the shower to remove it, so everything will wash down the drain.
3. Insert a finger and locate your disc
Reach up and find your disc - it sits high up, so it's okay if it feels hard to reach!! The pull tab will help with that
4. Untuck the disc from behind your pubic bone
The pull tab will be right at the edge of the disc, so use this to get leverage, untucking from your pubic bone as you start to pull out your disc.
5. Gently pull on the tab to guide your disc out of your body
Menstrual Discs don't use any suction, so you can just pull it to remove it! As you become a disc expert, you will learn how to keep the disc upright to avoid spills, but it's okay if your disc empties while you're removing it!
6. Dump, clean, and reinsert!
After emptying your disc in the toilet or shower, use the Viv Cup & Disc Wash to rinse it, so it's clean and ready to be reinserted!
