There are unlimited ways to fold the Viv Cup to insert it, and everyone' s body is different. Here are some of our favorite folding options:
To insert the Viv Cup:
- wash your hands and your cup
- practice folding the cup using one of the folds listed above
- choose a position: sitting on the toilet, squatting, or standing with one leg up
- relax your muscles & insert the cup into your vagina, angled back towards your tailbone
- you may need to try a couple different folds or insertion angles before you find the right one for you!
- when inserted correctly, the cup will fully unfold and form a seal inside you. Use a finger to feel around the bottom of the cup & make sure there are no gaps between the cup & your body
Inserting your cup will be no big deal soon, but it's okay if it doesn't go perfectly the first (or second) time! Take a deep breath and relax your muscles. Mindset is everything!
- wash your hands
- use a finger to find the ring stem on your viv cup and bring your cup to the "surface" of your vagina
- squeeze the bottom of the cup or use a finger to punch in the side of the cup to break the suction seal (breaking the seal is the most important part!)
- use the ring stem to guide the cup out of your body
- dump out your cup, rinse it with your Viv Cup Wash, and reinsert!

Before using your cup for the first time, and in between each period, boil your cup to completely sterilize it.
It's okay if your first cup experience doesn't go exactly as planned! Be gentle with yourself, and know that there's a learning time period for everyone trying a new period product for the first time.
