Period On Vacation? Here's What To Do

Summer is officially here, and with the gorgeous weather, trips you've been planning for months, beach days and park hangs comes a slightly less exciting part of summer: getting your period. Going on vacation and getting your period? Here's everything you need to do to have the best trip ever, even while menstruating!

Plan ahead

Tracking your period can come in handy when it comes to planning for your vacation. If you know how long your period usually is, and when you're expecting it to come, you can pack plenty of period products. Bring a variety of products depending on what you prefer to use - tampons, pads, or liners.

If you use a menstrual cup, vacation is the perfect time to use it, because you can leave it in all day long. There's nothing worse than having to plan your vacation around running to the bathroom to change your pad or tampon!

If you usually get cramps, pack some pain relievers or a portable heating pad. It's better to be prepared in case you need them!!

Wear comfortable clothes

When packing for your trip, make comfort your number one priority. It's totally possible to wear the cutest fits you've been planning while staying cozy and comfy while on your period! Make sure the outfits you bring are perio-approved, so you can enjoy your vacation and not worry about being uncomfortable the whole time.

Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is always important, but especially while on vacation and especially while on your period! Staying hydrated can help alleviate bloating and reduce the severity of cramps. Plus, drinking water can help flush out toxins from your body, leaving you feeling refreshed and energized for your vacation adventures.

Practice self care

Check in with your body throughout your trip. Don't want to push yourself to go on that extra-difficult hike? Need to sleep a little bit more one night? Allow yourself to take the rest that you need, and practice self-care in whatever way that means for you. It's better to listen to what your body needs, so you'll be able to enjoy the full extent of your trip.

Managing your period while on vacation doesn't have to be a source of stress. With some preparation, self-care, and a positive attitude, you can enjoy your trip to the fullest, regardless of what time of the month it is. So pack your bags, embrace the adventure, and don't let your period hold you back from making unforgettable memories!
